Maybelline 24hr Color Tattoos // Review
Hello everyone!
Last month I discovered cream eyeshadows. Specifically, the Maybelline 24hr Color Tattoos in 'On and On Bronze' and 'Pink Gold'. I thought it was about time I reviewed them for you!
It's a cream eyeshadow formula that claims to last for 24 hours.
The range contains both shimmers and mattes as well as bright and neutral shades.
They cost £4.99 each!

I have no idea why I put off buying these for so long, they've fast become a staple in my makeup collection! I think I was a little afraid of the unknown as I'd never tried a cream eyeshadow before and I wasn't sure how well I'd get on with them. I think it's safe to say I couldn't be without them now!
They can be used as either a base for powder eyeshadow or on their own and I'm a fan of both options. Because you apply them with your finger rather than a brush, I find it easier to get both eyes even when put a piece of sticky tape (Post-It index sticky notes are what I use) at the edges of your eyes and angle them both at equal degrees. You're left with a straight edge which I choose to blend out but it's up to you! I suppose you can use this method with any eyeshadow - powder or cream - I just think it's easier for helping you keep control with a cream formula.
Speaking of which, the formula is an absolute dream! It glides on and blends beautifully, making it easy to create a look in no time. The way it blends makes the pigmentation is really versatile; you can either get full coverage as I've shown above or a sheer wash of colour depending on how you apply. My preferred way of wearing them is a light layer all over the lid with a little more applied on the outer corner and lower lash line for definition.
I can't say I've ever worn the Color Tattoo for the full 24 hours it claims to last so I can't confirm or deny that it actually does. Honestly, I think that claim is just there for effect - it sounds pretty good, doesn't it? I can however say that I've worn them for 10 hours plenty of times and man, do they last. Once you've got them on your eyes, the cream formula seems to 'set' and then it doesn't budge or fade the whole day! I come home at the end of the day and am amazed everytime when I look in the mirror and they still look the same! Personally I haven't found them to crease on the lids either but I suppose that'll be individual to each person.
All in all, why didn't I buy these sooner?! They're an absolute steal at that price but it's worth looking out for deals online and instore. Sometimes Boots do 'buy one get one half price' and Feel Unique are always doing 'x% off' offers here and there!
On and On Bronze
This little beauty has become my favourite eyeshadow shade I've ever tried! If I'm ever in doubt of what look to go for, I choose this. It's my ultimate shimmery neutral when used alone but it also doubles up as the ideal smokey eye base when I choose to deepen it up with a few darker brown shadows.
Pink Gold
I wasn't sure if this shade would suit me or not so I was pleasantly surprised with it! I like how it pairs with my blue eyes but I can imagine it would look absolutely gorgeous on green eyes especially. I've shown it here just on it's own but I usually combine it with powder shadows - the Makeup Revolution What You Waiting For? palette (review) in particular for the lovely pink tones in it. It's like those two were made for each other!
