Weekly Reflect // #54

Hello everyone!

Despite being ill, this week was actually a really lovely one! Let's reflect on the past week . . .

Weekly Reflect #54 // The best sweet potato fries, Christmas songs & Doctor Who!

This week . . .

. . . I still wasn't well enough to attend school. The set back with my illness is still taking it's toll but I feel so lucky & grateful to have such an understanding Head of Year! He phoned up during the week to see how I was and ask how I wanted to go about things. We decided it makes sense for me to get notes sent home to work on & stay in contact with the teachers by email when I'm not feeling my best. That is honestly gonna be the biggest lifesaver for me! I can't help but feel a bit disappointed in myself but I'm still hopeful!

I realised that I put up my 300th blog post on Monday! That probably doesn't mean much to anyone else but to me, it definitely feels like a little win & it inspires me to keep on creating and improving. It's funny but what with everything going on with my illness, I feel like blogging gives me a reason not to just give up because I enjoy it so much. And of course, your support means the world so thank you!

Weekly Reflect #54 // Chocolate marble cake, Christmas songs & Doctor Who!
On Tuesday I made another chocolate orange marble cake which was kind of a blessing and a curse at the same time. A blessing because it was delicious, if I do say so myself! A curse because I exhausted myself making it and if I hadn't, I possibly could have been well enough to go to school at some point in the week. Silly illness! I know there's no use dwelling on 'could haves' really and I should focus on going forward. But I digress, I put the cake in a loaf tin rather than a circular one this time and then grated chocolate over the top of the melted chocolate sauce! *heart eyes emoji*

Also this week, I tried to give up tea. I wanted to see if having less caffeine & milk would make any difference. I lasted for a whole 5 days without a drop before I made myself a cuppa because I just needed one! Consider my love of tea well and truly renewed - you don't know what you've got til it's gone!

Weekly Reflect #54 // 300th blog post, cake, Christmas songs & Doctor Who!

On Wednesday my dad and I fancied going out for lunch. I'd never been to Arora Cafe in Bow Street Mall, Lisburn before but my parents had and thought it was a nice place so we decided to go there. The sweet potato fries were incredible and they give you plenty of them with your meal! The weather that day was probably the best we've had in ages - the Sun was out, it was boiling and just as we were driving home, Radio 1 played All I Want For Christmas Is You! Naturally, my dad rolled the windows down and blasted it on full volume. I hadn't laughed like that in ages!

And to finish off the week we had the long awaited return of Doctor Who. Except I really wasn't that excited about it at all, which was a shame to be honest - I used to LOVE the show! Over the years I gradually lost interest with it but I have to say I was pleasantly surprised with yesterday's episode. There was a handful of cringey moments but on the whole it was decent and I can't wait for the next one!

So that was my week! Get involved in the comments below and let me know what you got up to!

How was your week?

Thanks for reading,
Maeve
