My Everyday Makeup | Winter Edition!

Hello everyone!
You may remember a few months ago I blogged about my everyday makeup. It was back in September in fact and a few things have changed since then! I've switched a few things out in exchange for other products and I thought I'd tell you all about them.

I still opt for a very natural look for day to day wear, as for the most part I'm at school and not actually allowed to wear anything other than light foundation! Don't tell my principle, eh?

The BASE

I start out by placing some Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer on the key areas of my face to ensure I get all the coverage I want. I then take a small fluffy brush and blend slightly in a patting motion so as not to swipe it away but smooth it out.

I then dab some L'Oreal Infallible Foundation on and with my angled foundation brush tap & blend that in seamlessly with the concealer. Blending is the key to a natural looking base so if that's what you want, make sure to really buff it in - even when you think you're done, blend some more!

The FACE

The MUA Blush Perfection Cream Blusher is a recent addition to my routine. I was really curious about cream blushes so picked up this one at the amazing price of just £2 (although it's currently on sale for just £1.30!). At first, I wasn't 100% sure how to apply it best but I've found pressing my fingers on and picking up some product then tapping it onto my cheekbones & apples before bringing in a brush to stipple/blend is how I like to. It's very possible to apply too much so I've found a light hand is needed!

Another new product I picked up for £3 is the MUA Undress Your Skin Highlighter. It was a very hyped up product when it came out but for some reason I resisted that - until now! At first I was actually fairly unimpressed by it's lack of pigmentation, until I realised the problem! With baked powders, the oil from your fingers when you swatch it creates a seal over the product rendering it useless! The solution? Scratching it! I soon realised that making scratches on the surface unleashing it's pigmentation again and now I love this highlighter! Sadly I only discovered this after these photos were taken but now it gives me a lovely glow which I've actually been complimented on a handful of times! I use the Real Techniques Contour brush to apply it on the tops of my cheeks, down my nose and on my brow bones. Wonder product!

Rimmel's Clear Complexion Powder is an old favourite of mine and I just pat it over my T zone, chin & under eyes to really lock my foundation in place.

The EYES

Something I've carried on using since my Autumn everyday makeup is the Bellapierre Eyeliner. I was kindly gifted it by Lookfantastic and it's definitely become a staple for me! I simply use it to tightline my lashes (which takes a fair bit of practice!) and sometimes smudge a bit on the lid close to my lashes. What I love about this is that it really doesn't budge!

I needed to replace my mascara recently and when I read Katie's post, Collection's Lengthening Mascara sounded like it could be the one for me! It actually reminds me of They're Real! (my all time fave) but at a fraction of the cost and only scrimps on a wee bit of the volume. Really impressed with this lime green packaged beauty!

The LIPS

It probably won't come as a surprise that the Carmex Cherry Lip Balm gets used multiple times a day! I've said it before but I'll say it again - this works to really moisturise your lips. Sometimes I'll just leave it at that, but more recently I've been adding a subtle colour over the top of it. The MUA Lipgloss is a really safe option as it's very 'my lips but glossier' and smells of toffee! If I'm going for something a tad bolder, I'll smudge on my Revlon Matte Balm in 'Elusive' or apply a teeny bit of Benefit's Posietint. Love 'em both!

So there we have it - my updated everyday makeup. Hands up if you think I should do one for every season!

Have you tried any of these products?

Thanks for reading,
Maeve
