Put It To Good Use - Plain Plates

...Or plain mugs?

You may have some plain, white, boring plates in your cupboard that you know could use a little magic touch. If you don't have such simple ceramics, then why not have a look round a thrift store for some bargain ones!

For this crafty DIY, all you need will be:

  • Clean, washed, plain plates, mugs, teapots, vases, any crockery you can think of!
  • A Sharpie marker - could be any colour of marker you like
  • An oven
  • Oven gloves

First, take your freshly washed item and write whatever you like on it. Doodle on it. Whatever takes your fancy.
Then bake your item in an oven for 30 minutes at 150 degrees Celsius / 300 degrees Fahrenheit / Gas Mark 2.
Take it out - with oven gloves - when the time is up and ... drumroll ... It will be permanent!

1. Buy plates from Dollar Store 2. Write things with a Sharpie 3. Bake for 30 mins in the 150 oven and it's permanent!
These aren't pictures of ones I've made, I haven't had the time to make any yet, but when I do I'll post pictures.

I have a friends birthday coming up so I think as part of her present I'm going to make her a personalised coffee mug with her name on it, her favourite song lyrics on it, a quote or just a nice picture on it, I have decided yet. Let me know what you think sounds cool for a soon to be 16 birthday girl!
