Hello everyone!

I bought these Makeup Revolution lipsticks months ago and to be honest,I don't know why I didn't review them for you sooner! I suppose it's appropriate now seeing as we're coming into the festive season and red lips will be a staple for many.

Here's what I think of these three MUR red lipsticks!

Makeup Revolution red lipsticks review/comparision: Dare, Ruby Atomic & Reckless

The DETAILS

The three shades I have are Dare, Ruby & Reckless.

Makeup Revolution have an ever expanding range of lipstick shades and they describe them as being creamy & long lasting with high colour payoff.

They cost £1 each!

My THOUGHTS

The packaging isn't overly fancy but I have to say, the black & copper colour scheme looks pretty slick and having the shade correspond to the top of each lid is nice & handy!

Let's go through each shade individually . . .

Makeup Revolution red lipsticks review/comparision: Dare

Dare

I'd describe this as a semi matte formula. It sits somewhere between being matte and slightly sheeny so it's not drying at all; therefore it's very forgiving on the lips. Something I really appreciate is it's versatility - you can either pack the pigment on or have it muted and it looks fab either way. Although it's definitely red it does lean slightly over into pink territory, making it quite a unique shade which takes pride of place amongst my lipsticks!

The SWATCHES

Makeup Revolution red lipsticks review/comparision: Ruby Atomic

Ruby

If it's a full on knockout red you're looking for, this is the one for you! It's part of the Atomic collection and so it certainly packs a punch in the pigmentation stakes. The finish is gorgeously glossy and again, glides on due to it's creaminess. What more can I say apart from what did I ever do without this?

Makeup Revolution red lipsticks review/comparision: Reckless

Reckless

This is more of a berry/wine shade & has even more glossiness than Ruby. I'm not sure if it's just me that notices that the pigmentation seems to look quite uneven . . . for some reason it only shows up that way in photos - it looks fine in real life! I've been reaching for this a lot lately as it pairs nicely with all the Autumnal clothes I've been wearing. If you want to start getting into darker lip shades but are a bit wary, this would be a great one to start with as that's exactly what it was for me. I want to try something even deeper next!

Despite the fact all three are very creamy, I've been really pleased with how long the last on the lips. They don't slide off at all - I've been able to wear them comfortably from morning until evening on plenty of occasions and they hold up with minimal wearing. For just £1 each, I'm honestly blown away. Lipstick that wears off easily is a real pet peeve of mine so to have found a formula that works for me is fantastic. Because of the creaminess, I was actually tempted to try them as cream blushes and am super impressed by how well they blend out!

You can find Makeup Revolution on their website & on the Superdrug website/in selected stores.

Well I hope you enjoyed this post and found it helpful! Although they might look similar in their bullets, there definitely is a difference between all three. Get involved in the comments below and let me know which one you prefer. Don't ask me to choose though, I love them all!

Hello everyone!

Looking for a black pencil liner that lasts? The I ♡ Makeup All Day & Night eyeliner in 'One Sin Too Many?' may just be the one for you!

I ♡ heart makeup all day & night black eyeliner pencil one sin too many review swatches

The DETAILS

It's a matte black pencil eyeliner from I ♡ Makeup, Makeup Revolution's sister brand.

The pencil also comes in plenty of other shades.

It costs £1.99!

I ♡ heart makeup all day & night black eyeliner pencil one sin too many review swatches

My THOUGHTS

I didn't need another black pencil eyeliner but when I hauled a few things from Makeup Revolution recently, curiosity got the better of me and this ended up in my basket! I'd read a few reviews which compared it to the Urban Decay liners and what with this being a lot cheaper, I was sold.

The consistency is very creamy and it really does glide on the lid. It's also packed with pigment and so is a true black rather than a wishy washy grey as some 'black' liners tend to be! I think it really comes into it's own when you smudge it slightly as you can see I've done below. You get a wee bit of time to play around with it, then it sets and really does stays put! I did notice that if you look up before it's fully set it does have a tendency to transfer onto the lids but you soon learn when you've done that once!

It cannot be argued that this is a brilliant quality eyeliner but it does have a downside. I didn't realise this when I bought it but you can't sharpen or twist it up so all you're really getting is a tiny amount of product! It's such a shame as I do love this eyeliner a lot but in all honesty it's put me off buying another.

EDIT // Silly me. You can sharpen it! Looks can be deceiving - I thought it was made of plastic and so couldn't be sharpened. It can!

The SWATCHES

Overall, I do think this is a great eyeliner and I would recommend it!

Hello everyone!

I included this lipstick from I ♡ Makeup in my May Favourites video and seeing as I love it so much and I thought it deserved a whole review of it's own!

I ♡ Makeup Lip Geek in 'Just Have Fun' review swatches makeup revolution neutral nude pink

The DETAILS

Just Have Fun is one of 24 shades of Lip Geek from I ♡ Makeup.

I ♡ Makeup is the sister brand of Makeup Revolution.

It usually costs £2.99 but is currently on sale for just £1.99!

My THOUGHTS

When it comes to lipstick, I usually gravitate toward bright colours that will perk up my pale skin. I tend to skip nude lipsticks but lately I've been on the hunt for something I can wear with any makeup look and it'll go.

When I put Just Have Fun in my basket, I think I was expecting it to be quite light and neutral so I was a bit surprise to see how dark it actually looked in the bullet! Once it's on the lips, it translates really interestingly. It's kind of half bright, half neutral. Essentially, it's the perfect middle ground for me! I don't think I could ever pull off the traditional nude lip so I'm so happy to have found something that works for me!

I ♡ Makeup Lip Geek in 'Just Have Fun' review swatches makeup revolution neutral nude pink

The formulation is also worth talking about - it's creamy, leaves a slight sheen on the lips and gives you just the right amount of pigmentation. It's also really forgiving if your lips are dry and doesn't dry them out any further!

Over time it fades down and stains evenly which is something I really value in a lipstick, especially when you're eating! And of course, I couldn't not mention the packaging, you just can't go wrong with shiny pink and purple!

You can find the Lip Geek in 'Just Have Fun' here on the Makeup Revolution website.

Well I hope you enjoyed this post! Get involved in the comments below and let me know what your favourite neutral lipstick is!

Have you ever tried anything from I ♡ Makeup?

Hello everyone!

Getting your eyeliner flicks right is never easy, so when Makeup Revolution bring out something that claims to be amazing I sit up and listen. At £1.50, it would be rude not to try!

Here are my thoughts on their Amazing Liquid Eyeliner . . .

Makeup Revolution Amazing Liquid Eyeliner review

The DETAILS

The Amazing Eyeliner is a liquid liner with a flexible 'brush' which Makeup Revolution claim is easy to apply, intense in colour & lasts all day.

It also comes in a waterproof version.

It costs £1.50!

My THOUGHTS

Y'know that saying, good things come in small packages? Well I think they were talking about this eyeliner when they came up with it! This comes in a teeny tiny bottle and the nib is so petite making it truly incredible at getting a precise line.

What I love about it is how it's curved and bends slightly - it means you can really get close to the lash line with one side and then use the other side to create a flick with ease.

I do find myself needing to dip it into the liquid a few times to get the opacity as even as I'd like but honestly, that's not really too much of a problem at all.

If I was to pick a fault I'd say it takes a wee bit of time to dry properly and not waiting long enough means it transfers onto the eyelids when you look up - I learnt the hard way!

Once it's on though it stays and really doesn't budge. I'd be interested to try the waterproof one to compare them both!

In short, I think I've found my new favourite liquid eyeliner and I'll be stocking up on it! It would definitely be a great one to try if you're just getting started with cat flicks. Get involved in the comments below and let me know what you think!

Hello everyone!

Fellow pale skinned girls, you'll know that the practicalities of contouring for us isn't the easiest. We struggle to find a foundation light enough for us and many contour shades are way too muddy & red-toned for us. *sighs*

When I spotted the Protection palette on the Makeup Revolution website it was like a prayer answered, finally an option pale enough for us in a handy do it all palette!

The DETAILS

The Protection palette contains 3 creamy concealers, a pressed powder, a contouring matte bronzer, a blusher and a highlight.

It contains a full size mirror in the lid.

It comes in 4 different shades; light, light medium, medium & medium dark.

It costs just £6!

My THOUGHTS & SWATCHES

I was looking for something to up my base makeup & contouring game and when I came across this I knew I had to try it!

The three concealers don't have the highest of coverage but I don't shun them for that. They have a very creamy consistency and blend out to a matte finish. All three shades come in handy - the top one is a great match for my pale skin, I like the middle one for very subtle cream contouring on my nose and as the bottom one is yellow toned I find it great for colour correcting & brightening those undereyes and inner corners that can be quite blue/dull!

The pressed powder is a fantastic addition to the palette! I didn't bother swatching it as it doesn't give any colour. It simply mattes excess shine but still allows radiance to come through without clinging to any dryness - vital criteria I look for in a powder! I do find it requires topping up after a number of hours but I don't find that to be a major problem.

The true stars in this palette are the bronzer, blusher and highlighter. Now, I'm pale and I don't try to cover that up with fake tan so bronzers are something I've always stayed away from. That was until I found this one! As you can see on the right, it blends beautifully and I love using it to warm up my complexion so I don't look quite so ghostly! I've also been experimenting with getting my contour on! My tip is to take some on your brush then dab away any excess on your hand as it's always easier to build up the colour rather than take it away if you're heavy handed. Just make sure you remember to wash your hands after!

This blush! It doesn't look all that exciting in the pan but once on the cheeks, it gives an incredibly natural perk up in the complexion department. I've been using this alternately with the Makeup Revolution Vivid Blush Lacquer I reviewed last week. I love them both and can't pick a favourite! I'd compare this to a pair of comfy sweatpants - not the fanciest but never lets you down. There's a very fine shimmer that helps with the look of glowiness that I adore. Ideal for pale skin!

Highlight has become an essential for me. This one is definitely my new fave - it's that gorgeous pinky champagne colour that flatters us pale girls so well. The powder has just the right amount of pigmentation and blends like a dream!

The Makeup Revolution Protection palette is available to buy here on the MUR website.

Overall, the Protection palette has become a truly invaluable part of my makeup routine and I can't recommend it highly enough! Get involved in the comments below and let me know what you think!
