Hello everyone!

90s inspired outfit from Boohoo to celebrate Charli XCX's collection! #charlixcx4boohoo

Let me just start this post by saying that I flipping LOVE this outfit. The great thing about taking inspiration from a past decade is that you can pick out the trends you like and leave the others behind! Denim was an integral part of 90s style and what better way to pay homage to it than with this gorgeous oversized jacket? I've wanted one for so long but the better quality ones tend to be quite pricey so I never ended up biting the bullet. That's what's good about Boohoo though, this one is only £25 and worth every penny!

The little halter neck top is such a steal at £6 - I don't own anything else like it and you know I love a unique piece! You've gotta go bra-less with it as it's completely backless. For me at least, that's pretty daring and it's something I probably wouldn't have done this time last year. I suppose that's what was so fab about the 90s; girl power and the confidence that comes with it!

The skirt is actually something I bought from Boohoo a while back and I'm loving how the subtle check print throughout it is giving a wee nod to those outfits from Clueless. The tights are a little finishing touch I couldn't resist!

As for Charli's collection, I was super excited during the run up to the launch and she didn't disappoint! My top picks are:

- The black sparkly dress because hello sassy (& affordable) party dress!

- The fluffy cropped jumper because cute.

- The check dress because I'm imagining it with a little white tee underneath and that is all kinds of adorable.

- The ombre glitter clutch because JUST LOOK AT IT.

So there you have it, my 90s inspired Boohoo outfit! Have a browse of #charlixcx4boohoo on the website and let me know which pieces you like best!

What are your favourite things from the 90s?

No, I wouldn't.
I was sent the jacket, top & tights by Boohoo but all opinions are honest and my own.

Hello everyone!

To say I love & appreciate Nicki Minaj would be an understatement. After years of supporting her and feeling supported by her, she reduced me to tears the moment I laid eyes on her at her concert - that's not something I do very often!

I've been looking for an opportunity to share the many ways she empowers me for so long so I couldn't be happier to be collaborating on the subject with Jacky from Do It For The Irony!

10 Ways Nicki Minaj Empowers Me

Better yourself

Since day one, Nicki has been an advocate for education and continuing to try harder.

"You wanna know what scares people? Success. When you don't make moves, and when you don't climb up the ladder, everybody loves you because you're not competition."

She proves it doesn't matter how you start out in life, you can use each adversity as a rung in the ladder to climb up. "Stay in school" is something she often says in interviews, on stage & online and it's something that has really stuck with me as I've made my way through education. It's been a constant reminder to never give up, no matter how much I might be drowning in work or feeling under pressure because it will be worth it when I reach the finish line. And it's wanting to succeed for yourself and to support your family, not to impress anyone else. That's a real, everyday positive influence she's had on millions! I definitely owe a percentage of my determination to Nicki.

Don't settle

Something I read in a magazine interview she did a few years ago has really stayed with me:

"Each detail needs to wow me or it's not an option."

I never really seem to let myself feel 'pleased with' my achievements because I'm always moving onto the next task to accomplish. I think this is just a trait I naturally have but Nicki has undoubtedly strengthened the idea in me. At the same time, she's adamant about giving credit where credit's due. You have to give yourself props but remember you're never done & if you deserve credit, work harder until you get it. Nothing comes from being complacent.

Feminism

Nicki has empowered females countless times in countless ways; her presence in the male-dominated & misogynistic world of hip hop alone is testament to that, let alone the extent of her success. The odds and double standards are stacked against her as she explained in the video above.

"When I am assertive, I'm a bitch. When a man is assertive, he's a boss. No negative connotion behind 'bossed up' but lots of negative connotation behind being a bitch."

By leading the way, she empowers women to defy boundaries set by society. Not only that, but she opens doors of opportunity so that lots of other people can have chances to win too.

I think when female figures dress and speak proactively, sometimes people can be so shocked at what they're seeing that it can be mistaken for the women demeaning themselves. To me, I see it as a way of completely breaking down the double standards. When someone wears what they want to and wins whilst doing so, that's empowering to me.

Independence

Nicki Minaj handles every aspect of her career and that's something I one day aspire to be able to do. To do that, you have to pave your own way and take responsibility for everything you do - you can't depend on anyone but yourself if you want to be successful.

"I always feel it's important for me to show females that they can be in charge of their own situation. When I win and when I lose, I take ownership of it, because I really am in charge of what I do."

I certainly walked out of her concert feeling confident, charged up and ready to grab opportunities!

Multi-faceted

One of the first things that drew me to Nicki was that she was multi-faceted. We saw her adopt various 'alter egos' but at the end of the day, she is each one of those combined.

She taught me it's absolutely okay to be different and you shouldn't have to choose to be 'one particular person' all the time. You can be a business woman and show up to meetings with pink hair. You can spit hardcore rap in a verse but switch to the sweet, girly girl singing in the chorus. Why limit yourself?

Hello everyone!

I've been watching lots of different Youtubers for years now, from beauty tutorials to fashion lookbooks to day in the life vlogs and more. One of the people in my subscription feed (and in millions of others too) is Tanya Burr. Last year she wrote & released a book which I recently bought and am here to tell you my thoughts on today!

Who's Tanya Burr & what's her book about?

Tanya is an English Youtuber. I've been subscribed to her for a while now and loved her positive, bubbly personality from the start! When I heard she was writing a book and what it was going to be about, I knew it was something different from other Youtubers' books and put it in my imaginary wishlist straightaway. I see nothing wrong with Youtubers writing books but I'll save that topic for another day!

Love Tanya is contains a whole mixture of things; advice, recipes & recommendations as well as some autobiographical sections.

Which parts did I like best?

My favourite bits were definitely those where Tanya opened up about her life, her childhood & teen years because it meant I got to know a lot more about her as a person. We're all a wee bit nosey! There were some parts I could really relate to that I previously had no idea she went through, despite being a viewer of her Youtube channel.

I also really like the recipes - she does do videos on them but there's just something about having them laid out in a book with pretty photos that I love! I can't wait to try and make those brownies.

All the way throughout the book, there are top 10 lists and sections where you can get involved and write down your own lists. While I do like the idea of them, there are some that just aren't really for me - and they aren't the ones I would've expected! I absolutely love makeup, skincare & fashion but some of the tips are a bit redundant to me as I either already know them or don't really apply to them but that's just me personally. Anyone who's maybe younger or just starting out with beauty will love the advice parts I didn't find so useful!

It has to be said, the aesthetic of the book is gorgeous - lots of mint & pink which always ticks boxes for me!

Who will like this book?

Fans of Tanya will adore having this as a physical keepsake. I wouldn't consider myself a massive fangirl of hers but by reading the book but I now see another dimension of her as the very inspiring, driven business woman that she is.

As I mentioned, if you're just starting to learn about makeup, skincare & hair then you'll love the advice sections!

I got it on Amazon where it's currently just £6.49 - half price from it's usual £12.99! I'm not sure how long it's going to stay at this cost so if you've been thinking of getting it now's the time!

So those are my thoughts on Love, Tanya! Overall I feel like I got to know a lot more about Tanya and came away feeling very positive after reading the book. Any questions? Let me know if you've read or would like to read this book in the comments below!

What do you think about Youtubers writing books?

Hello everyone!

Today I've got a guest post to share with you, written by the lovely Nika! She loves fashion & is an aspiring blogger from Sydney. She's going to be telling you how to get Khloe Kardashian's street style look - over to Nika!

Who said that fashion is for fashion shows only? If you are looking for fashionable and stylish people, you need only look out your window into the street and there you’ll have it – fashion, wild and untamed. It doesn’t matter where you are going, you should look good. There are people who dress up to go to the store and look as glamorous as if they are going out on a date. Inspired by amazing street style fashion of Khloe Kardashian, who is a great inspiration for anyone out there who wants to look their best every day, I bring you a few looks which are never going out of style.

Jeans
How women used to live without them, we don’t know. Jeans are that one universal piece of clothes that is stylish, girly, boyish, casual and sexy at the same time, depending on the rest of your outfit. Make sure you always have a pair or two of DIY ripped jeans in your closet and wear them Khloe style – with leather boots, black top and a stylish handbag or with plaid shirt to get that casual air.

Plaid shirt
No matter if your favourite is the oversized plaid shirt which would fit the average lumberjack or a small, rather tight one you can combine with skinny jeans or leggings, plaid shirts are a great piece to combine with the different pieces to get that casual or sexy look. Just accentuate your lips and put on high heels or choose flats and sunglasses.

Hot dress
Having a few hot party dresses in a closet is a must for every girl. Party dresses make you feel fabulous while you are wearing them, and can turn ordinary party into a glamorous event in a blink of an eye. So make sure you have a few which you can combine – a little black dress, romantic twirl one and one with glitters and in an eye-catching colour for wild parties.

Pencil skirt
Khloe has several classic pieces of clothes that look good on her no matter what, and she uses them often in different combinations to achieve different effect. She often combines white or pastel pencil skirt which emphasizes her curves and wears different shirts and tops depending on the occasion – lace crop top for a casual afternoon out or a sheer black one for a wild night out.

Details matter
You know that often it’s the details that make all the difference in an outfit. You can wear all black and look rather dull or you can add fiery red lipstick with matching nail polish and turn boring into stylish in a blink of an eye. Or you can trust your big, glamorous sunglasses and a handbag to turn you into a star for the day.

Only a small number of us can actually keep up with the Kardashians, but on the other hand they inspire a lot of us to boldly combine fashionable pieces of clothes and look good every day, no matter where we’re headed.
