black studded satchel - £19.99 New Look via ASOS
multicolour checkered backpack - £19.90 Amazon
pastel purple satchel - £28 ASOS

Hello hello!
If you read my last post you'll know I'm doing a little series called Back To September - a guide to getting ready for the next year of school/uni/work.
Here's the result of a cheeky couple of online orders from ASOS and Amazon.
It's no secret that I love bags - most of mine are thrifted but I saw these 3 online and knew they would be great for school as well as otherwise.

Multicolour Checkered Backpack
(now out of stock:( )

I LOVE this bag! When I got it in the post I couldn't wait to open it. As soon as I did, it turned out to be even nicer than it looked online! It could go with so many different outfits as it has different coloured patches, and it'll be fab for school for a bright pop of colour when teamed with my school uniform. I've already got a bit of use out of it to run a few errands! It has double magnetised pop buttons so I don't worry about anything falling out or being stolen.

Unfortunately one of the little details on the strap came off when my younger brother 'had a look' at the bag. It's not a big deal and I'm hoping I can easily sew it back on.

Overall, it's a great bag. It has enough room to fit what I need without being too bulky. To be fair, the brown trimmings are quite plastic-y looking but it's not something I can't live with. Love it!

Black Studded Satchel - ASOS

This bag is branded New Look but it's on the ASOS website and I must say, it's just what I've been looking for for a while now! Black and studs. It's not a big bag and definitely couldn't fit a ton of books in it, but my subjects next year won't need lots of books so I'm happy. It would also be great for a day bag, just to carry a few essentials for a shopping trip or dinner out maybe. You can adjust it to make the strap longer or shorter, but I'd say the longest setting isn't all that long - it's too short to put it across the body but fine on just one shoulder. I'd also have to say that the material is quite flimsy as it's only plastic but I don't mind too much as it's a lovely bag and once it's filled with stuff it won't be noticeable.

Pastel Purple Scalloped Satchel - ASOS

This bag! I'd been lusting over it for a while before buying and I'm so glad I got it because - you guessed it - I love it! It's so delicate and girly, I can't really fault it. The only thing I would say is that I expected it to be a bit more pink as that's how it looked in the photos on ASOS but when I received it, it turned out to be more purple. Even when I took these photos of it myself it doesn't show the true colour but I guess that's just how the bag pictures! Saying that, it's not a really problem at all - the bag is a good size, has a zip on the inside and is beautiful. Oh and the strap is very adjustable - a must for me.

_________________________________________________________________________________

So those are the bags I bought.
I love how they're all so different and can be used for all sorts of occasions - whether I'm feeling crazy, fierce or girly.
I don't know whether I recommend buying 3 bags at once, but at least I have choice and they'll get a lot of use. They weren't that expensive but I do consider them a treat, and I won't be buying any more bags for a while now! (fingers crossed)

What bag will you be using this year?

Hey everyone!

Just a quick post to explain why I won't be posting - I'm going for an extended weekend break from today (Thurs) until Sunday. I'll probably post again on Monday and it might be a travel-themed post! Any post suggestions are welcome in the comment box.

Have a lovely weekend!

Hello everyone!

Every Summer I have the same task ahead of me - getting all the supplies ready to go back to school - and I know some of you may be in the same position, so I thought I'd make a little blog series called 'Back to September'.
The reason I haven't named it Back to School is because I know some of my readers aren't in school, so this series will also be relatable to those going back to uni or work!

. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

This part of the series is . . . The Hunt for The Bag

For me, finding a bag for school is one of the most difficult things (along with shoes) about going back to September. There are lots to choose from but it's all about finding the balance between style and practicality. I'm sure you can all relate; you want a bag to be durable and the right size but still look cute!

So I scoured the internet in search of the right bag and while doing so I picked out a fair few to help you if you find yourself like me, stressed in case you won't find one in time - enjoy!

___________________________________________________________________

THE BACKPACK:

1. |  2.  |  3. |  4. |  5. |  6. |  7.  | 8.

Backpacks were everywhere last year and they're here to stay - they're comfortable and come in so many cute designs - here are just a couple. If you're like me and love fringing, check out bag 1, plus it's in the sale. Bag 7 has the most lovely detailing, I was so tempted to buy it but for me the £40 price tag is a little steep. I also nearly bought bag 8, look how crazy bright it is! In the end, I ordered bag 4 and I can't wait for it to arrive! The checkered pattern reminds me of that book Elmer the Elephant! (does anyone else remember reading it as a child?) There are so many nice bags on Amazon, I really recommend you search there if you want to bag a bargain (if you'll pardon the pun).

THE SATCHEL:

 1. |  2. |  3. |  4. | 5. |  6.

Satchels are another big trend that has come back in, and rightly so, they're a great all purpose bag for any reason you may need them. There's a ton of pretty styles you can choose from - black and gold detailing look stunning on bags 1 and 6, as does the aztec pattern on bag 5. If you want something a bit more classic but still modern, bags 2 and 3 also look great. I bought bag 4 as I love the colour, scalloped detail and it's a great size.

THE SHOULDER/ CROSS-BODY STRAP

1. |  2. |  3. |  4. |  5. |  6. |  7.

Shoulder bags are an old faithful for me, I've used them for school since I started secondary. I didn't opt for one this year because I wanted something different for sixth form, but look at how lovely these ones are! Any of these bags can be worn on the shoulder or elbow, and some have a longer strap so they can become cross-body bags! Bag 1 is so affordable, I think it would be great for young teens.

__________________________________________________________________

I hope this post helped you if you're in search for a new bag!

I'm starting sixth form in September and what I was looking for was a comfortable bag that was stylish and affordable. I don't need a very big bag this year as I'm only doing three subjects; Art, French and Media Studies - and due to the nature of those, I won't need to carry many books around.

I confess, I did something very un-thrifty . . . I bought 3 bags.
I don't think I should have to justify myself but here's my attempt anyway- they are all very different and I know I will get use out of all of them. The combined price of the three is £67 which I don't think is too bad seeing as I got three whole bags, when there are single bags out there that cost that much and more.
Also, when they arrive, (I ordered them online) if I change my mind about them, returns are free. If not, I'll have plenty of choice and I can switch my schoolbag up every now and then.

Alright I'm a bag-a-holic, I love them. I think I can afford to treat myself to bags when I spend so little on clothes.
I think I'm going to have to go on a bag-ban for a while!

Here are the three I ordered:

Pink bag - ASOS - £28
Black bag - ASOS - £19.99
Multi-coloured bag - Amazon - £15.95 + £3.95 p+p = £19.90

__________________________________________________________________________

You can, of course, find many a great bag in thrift/charity shops -  I know I've found a couple of beauties on occasion. Make sure to check zips work and there aren't any stains/rips that you can't live with before buying. :)

Other posts in this series will be:

Hello everyone, hope you're all having a good day!

I thought I'd do a tag as I haven't done one in ages and these questions are really interesting - and you get to know me a bit better.

It's the 'Get To Know Me' tag and I tag everyone who wants to do it!

_____________________________________________________________

1. Are you named after someone?
The lovely nurse who delivered me when I was born - I don't know her personally, but my parents liked the name!

2. When was the last time you cried?
I can't remember - I think that's a good thing because I used to cry a lot, but not so much anymore.

3. Do you have kids?
Not yet!

4. If you were another person, would you be a friend of yourself?
Hmm maybe..I'd like to think so!

5. Do you use sarcasm a lot?
Yes haha, I'm known for it.

Maybe, but I think I'd rather sky dive first.

7. What's your favourite cereal?
Muesli/granola - YUM.

8. What's the first thing you notice about people?
Well everyone is different, so I notice a different first thing for each person I meet. I'm usually good at figuring out a persons personality on first impression, but then people can always surprise you!

9. What is your eye colour?
Blue.

10. Scary movie or happy ending?
I love scary movies, but I am fond of a good happy one too.

11. Favourite smells?
Most food smells (pizza, fresh fruit, cupcakes, vanilla, cinnamon etc.), boy smell (I hope this doesn't sound too weird, and I hope you know what I mean..boys aftershave is meant to smell good to girls, just like vice versa!), the smell of the seaside and Nicki Minaj Pink Friday perfume at the minute.

12. Summer or Winter?
Winter! I love the weather, the clothes, Christmas/New Year time, my birthday and everything.

13. Computer or television?
Computer because I can watch TV on it too if I want, and so much more.

14. What's the furthest you've ever been from home?
I've been to different places all over the UK, but I've never been outside of it.

15. Do you have any special talents?
I'm good at creative things, like art and music etc. I can play a few different musical instruments. I can also swim pretty well - I learnt water lifesaving too so I could save you if you were drowning!

16. Where were you born?
In a hospital, somewhere in the UK. (it's a secret :) )

17. What are your hobbies?
I love anything arty/crafty - I draw, paint, design all sorts of things. I'm also a big lover of music - listening and playing instruments. Of course I love shopping, thrifting, beauty, fashion and reading blogs as well as writing this one!

18. Do you have any pets?
Two dogs, a cat (she doesn't live with us but visits us often) and as of a few weeks ago, a rapidly-growing, ever-meowing kitten!

19. Favourite movie?
I love a lot of movies! Titanic, The Time Travelers Wife, Despicable Me, 10 Things I Hate About You, The Green Mile, Zodiac, Edward Scissorhands, Lady and the Tramp and Peter Pan to name only a few.

20. Do you have any siblings?
A brother and a sister.

21. What do you want to be when you grow up?
I'm very much undecided - fashion design is the dream, anything in fashion really, or music video production maybe. Something creative for definite! And I'd also like to keep up this blog :)

Hello everyone!

Just a quick post today:
I ordered this little beauty from Amazon just over a week ago and it arrived via Mr Postman this morning, I'm very excited to try it out!

It's my first OPI product and I really wanted to get it because my nails are in quite bad condition at the minute. Working in a deli has really taken its toll on my nails - I have to keep them short and they are flaky and weak. I want my nail strength back!

So I thought, why not give the much-praised Nail Envy a go.

I bought it on Amazon so got it at the marked down price of £8.95 - still a bit pricey but a good deal as the RRP is close to £19 - no way was I paying full price!

I'll let you know how I get on with the oh-so talked about product claimed to be a 'miracle in a bottle' by some, by reviewing it once I've been using it for a while.

Thanks for reading!

M

Hi lovelies!

_______________________________________________________________________________
(my hospital story - skip this paragraph if you aren't interested and just want to read the review)

This post is a tad overdue - I received my GrazeBox a week ago, however I had to be taken to hospital the day it was supposed to arrive. Last Thursday, I woke with a very sore tummy, so sore to the point where it was very difficult to even stand up. As my job involves standing up all day, I had to call in sick (for the first time). I rested in bed for most of the day, hoping it would go away. I made a doctors appointment for the next day as that was the soonest the doctor could see me. I woke up the next morning, Friday, the day the GrazeBox was scheduled to arrive. I went to my doctor, expecting just a check over and for him to tell me to rest and take some painkillers. Oh no. He asked me if he could feel my stomach and I lay down on the examining table while he poked and prodded at it. When he told me that he thought it was appendicitis I was not expecting that! When he told me I had to go to hospital I was even more shocked.
My mum kindly drove me there as my pains started to worsen. To cut this story a little shorter, I had to wait around 3 days in hospital before I could have the operation. Despite my own doctors impatience, the hospital doctors weren't so quick to act and wanted to wait until I worsened until they would operate. During a lot of this time I also had to fast. You guessed right if you guessed I wasn't too happy about that. I digress, I had my appendix removed and am now safe at home recovering - so this post is being written while I'm a little sore and I have a bandage over a wound but I'm getting better!
________________________________________________________________________________

Anywhoo! I had to wait until I got home to tuck into my GrazeBox - and when I did, I wasn't disappointed!

In my box, I received:
-Copacabana (I rated as 'try' online)
-Carrot Cake with an Afternoon Infusion (I rated as 'love' online)
-The Firecracker (I rated as 'like' online)
-Twist of Black Pepper Popcorn (I rated as 'love' online)

And also:
-Nutritional Information booklet
-Welcome booklet
-100% recycled napkin

The box itself is also recyclable! Thumbs up for being eco-friendly Graze.

The whole box is decorated with cute animations and phrases. They also make it really personal with 'Hi Maeve' on the leaflet.
If you're interested, you also get all the nutritional information you need about each punnet; calorie, fat, sugar, salt, protein, fibre content etc. which I'm sure would be very useful if you're watching what you eat, but to me, I don't really mind!

Here's my special code that could get you a free box if you use it! I blogged about it here.

________________________________________________________________________________

THE FOOD:

the firecracker - 139 kcal per punnet
When I returned home from hospital, I decided to have a 'Graze evening' with my family and we started with The Firecracker. It contains chilli rice crackers, spicy paprika peanuts and salsa corn sticks. These were very much enjoyed by everyone in my family except my little brother who isn't a big fan of spice. I don't think they were too spicy but my mum thought they were, so I suppose it's all down to personal taste! My favourite were the rice crackers. "Moreish" as my mum described them, and I agree!

yummyness!
all gone!
twist of black pepper popcorn - 127 kcal per punnet
Next to be devoured was the packet of popcorn! I was very excited about this seeing as I love popcorn and I LOVE black pepper, so I couldn't wait to try out the combination of both.

The popcorn was super easy to prepare - just take out of the blue packet, pop in the microwave and wait until you could hear one pop every two seconds (around 2 minutes). Quick and easy, and worth it!

The bag puffed up to look like this and there was plenty of popcorn inside! Every corn popped - I was very impressed with that.

The taste was quite unique - salty and peppery, unlike any popcorn I've ever tasted before and very, very tasty!

carrot cake with an afternoon infusion - 88 kcal per punnet
The next morning, I thought I would switch my usual cup of tea for the teabag included in my GrazeBox. I know it says it's an 'afternoon infusion' but I simply couldn't wait to try it!

I was unsure if this was ordinary tea until I added water and was glad when I found out it was. I'm not into herbal teas or fruit teas - just plain old tea suits me fine!

I added milk and munched on the little slice of carrot cake as an after-breakfast snack. The tea had a very smooth flavour, a little different to the tea I normally have but absolutely delish! I want to be able to buy a whole packet!

The carrot cake didn't disappoint - instead of the usual sticky icing you get on carrot cake, it was topped with seeds for a more low calorie snack. It was packed with flavour and I wasn't sharing this with anyone - too good to share!

the last punnet left!
copacabana - 249 kcal per punnet
Last but not least, Copacabana! Little brother may not be a lover of spice, but he has a sweet tooth and was most excited about this! I shared this with the family for an after-lunch-dessert and it was a nice little snack. It was made up of 3 Belgian dark chocolate buttons and 3 milk chocolate buttons and plenty of Brazil nuts. I did enjoy it, but it wasn't my favourite thing in the box. It was just a little ordinary/unimaginative for me, but that's just me!

_________________________________________________________________________________

This was my first GrazeBox and I was honestly extremely pleased with everything I got! The Copacabana was just something I thought I could easily get for myself so for that reason I rate this box a 3/4.

I got 2 loves, 1 like and 1 try.

Due to my operation, I have to have some time off work so I don't have any money coming in at the moment. For that reason, I've postponed my next box until September when I will be earning again. I think these little punnets will be great for popping into my lunch in sixth form!

_______________________________________

If you take out the inner compartment of the box, Graze have included a joke!

Q: If I had 7 apples in one hand and 6 bananas in the other, what would I have?

A: Massive hands!

________________________________________

Haha it's just a silly joke but it put a smile on my face!

_________________________________________

Are you subscribed to Graze? Have you had one of these punnets in your box before? Which one would you like to try most? Would you be pleased with the box I got?
