M :)

. . . . . I may as well reveal my name too, my name is Maeve! :)

Hi everyone!

The other day I got tagged to do the blogger tag - it's not the first time I've been tagged to do this one so I'm very grateful to Ashleigh from Studs and Creepers for tagging me! She's only started out recently on her blog but it's already fantastic so go take a sneaky peak at it. ;)

On with the tag!

The Rules:

  1. Each person tagged must post 11 random facts about themselves.
  2. They must answer the 11 questions posted by the previous blogger.
  3. The must create 11 more questions to ask their tagged bloggers.
  4. They must tag 11 bloggers with less than 200 followers.
  5. The bloggers must be told.
  6. No tag backs.

11 Random Facts About Me:

- I had cornflakes with mini marshmallows for my breakfast this morning.
- I want to be a fashion designer/interior designer when I'm older.
- I have a fear of rollercoasters, even looking at them freaks me out.
- My favourite TV show right now is The Big Bang Theory. Sheldon Cooper <3
- I'm going to see Ed Sheeran in concert in January!
- For some reason I don't like long sleeved tops, I always roll the sleeves up so they're 3/4 length.
- I'm really really really really excited for Christmas.
- You'll rarely hear me say/write the word 'perfect'. It's too good a word to throw around meaninglessly!
- I love playing guitar, and I'd really like to learn ukelele.
- I want to travel to so many places all around the world.
- I would love a walk-in wardrobe room - anyone that has one is so lucky!

The questions Ashleigh asked me:

What are your three biggest pet peeves?
When people take the lid off something and don't put it back on, when 10 year olds have iPhones and when people whisper right in front of you!

Chocolate or peanut MnM's?
Peanut! I love them so much, you've just made me want some now.

If you could only wear one nail polish brand for the rest of your life, what would it be and why?
Even though I've never actually bought or used one (shame on me) , I'd say O.P.I. They have an infinitely beautiful range of colours, the bottles are gorgeous and the names are always cute.

What's your staple clothing item that always makes you feel confident when you wear it?
It would have to be my cream blazer with tiny black polka dots from H&M. Dressed up or dressed down, when I wear it I feel confident. I think blazers in general have that effect on me.

Winter or Summer?
Winter! I love the Christmassy atmosphere and traditions and the fact that everyone comes together and is happy. And the snow! And it's my birthday on the 3rd of December. I love giving gifts at Christmas. ;)

What's your favourite childhood film?
Oooh this was a difficult one, but it would have to be Lady and the Tramp! Remember that old Disney one? I named my puppy Lady because it was my favourite film at the time. Unfortunately, R.I.P Lady. :(

What song always gets you on the dancefloor?
I'm more of a 'dance in my bedroom' kind of girl rather than dancefloor to be honest, but one song that I just can't resist dancing to anywhere I am is 'Love On Top' by Beyonce. Seriously, dancing to it is like a work out!

Tea or coffee?
Tea!

If you could only shop in one highstreet store for clothing for the rest of your life, which shop would it be and why?
This is really difficult. I like certain places for certain pieces/types of clothes! No, this is too difficult, I need variety when I shop, I can't possibly begin to choose. Don't make me choose!

Heels or flats?
I own more pairs of flats and wear them on a regular basis, but heels always make me feel amazing even if I don't feel it.

Which person has inspired you most throughout your life?
Someone I know personally? My dad. We can relate to each other so well, I can have a good conversation with him, and he's the kindest person I've ever known. He's also hilarious. He never gives up no matter what he's faced with. I love him so much. One time I had to write a whole essay for english class on this question.

The questions I'm asking:

  1. What's your all time favourite meal?
  2. Which song represents your life right now?
  3. Which country would you love to visit?
  4. Holy grail makeup product?
  5. If you could steal one celebrities wardrobe, whose would it be and why?
  6. What is something you're proud of about yourself?
  7. Which websites do you go on everyday?
  8. What's your guilty pleasure?
  9. What's the one thing you can't live without in Autumn/Winter?
  10. Do you prefer chocolate or jelly sweets?
  11. What do you love most about blogging?

The bloggers I'm tagging:

Rose et Belle
Merely Suggesting
Clothes Drawer
Style It With Me
A blog of thoughts

So I'm off to go and tell these lovely bloggers that they've been tagged. Thank you once again to Ashleigh for tagging me and asking me such good questions, go and check out her blog if you haven't already!

Hello lovelies!

Today I'll be reviewing the fantastic MUA Undressed Palette.

If you didn't already know, it's a certain dupe for Urban Decay's Naked Palette.
Naked, Undressed, get it?

It costs £4 and can be bought from any Superdrug where MUA is sold, and the MUA website here. It's actually on offer on their website £1 off, so snap it up if you're interested!

On with the review . . .

The packaging is plain, but it's actually really sleek and sturdy, not flimsy at all.
Open it up and it looks like this . . .

I took this picture when I first bought it. After having it for almost a month, it's gotten a lot more messy and smudged! This doesn't bother me too much, I'll just have to give it a wipe clean.

And you also get a wonderful double-ended brush with it, which really isn't a cheapy-cheap flimsy, spongey brush, it's soft and is holding up really well. These pictures were also taken when I first got the palette, so it's gotten a little less clean too.

Here are the shades you get.
The one furthest left on the top row (called Virgin on the UD palette) is a lovely shimmery white/pink which I like to use for the inner corner of my eye and brow bone as a highlighter. The rest are all shimmers, except for two mattes. The third (Naked) and fifth (Buck) on the top row are both matte browns, one lighter than the other and are great for bases or just a subtle contouring of the eye. The top right shade (Half Baked) is the most gorgeously pigmented gold shimmer. Most of the colours are browns and pinks, except for the two bottom right shades. (Creep) is a very dark blue-black with flecks of tiny glitter in it. (Gunmetal) is a blue colour which again has some miniscule glitter added.

The Urban Decay Naked Palette

As you can see, the shades are extremely similar. I can't comment on similarities in pigmentation etc. because I have never actually got my hands on the UD palette, but I can say that I find no faults in MUA's version so why spend £36 when you could get it for 9 times cheaper!

Here are the swatches of all the shades in the MUA Undressed Palette.
From the left to right, the first 6 are the top row, and the other 6 are the bottom row. As you can see, they are all amazingly pigmented and you get a range of gorgeous colours.
What more could you ask for?

..............................................................

As you may know MUA have other palettes available in their range, but the question is, would I purchase any of those?

The answer is yes!

When I went in to buy this palette, I very almost chose the Dusk Til Dawn palette instead. I might end up getting this next, and also Poptastic to extend my range of brights. The Artiste Collection palette also looks like a winner, just haven't got round to picking one up yet.

............................................................

Have you got the MUA Undressed palette?
Got any other of the MUA palettes, singles, or trio eyeshadows?

To buy any of MUA's products, go here - they currently have an offer online where when you spend £10 you get a nail polish, eyeliner pencil and trio of eyeshadows all for free!

Hey girlies!

I've got plenty of blog posts ready to be written but I just haven't got the time to take pictures, what with school work at the minute. Also it was my parent teachers meeting tonight so my parents want me to really concentrate on my school work - eek! I promise I'll get round to the photo taking at the weekend, but for now, here's a quick tag I've seen on a couple of blogs recently.

And I tag all of you for this tag!
I want to thank you all - I've reached 40 followers!

-----------

1. When did you begin loving make-up?

I began experimenting with makeup when I was about 10. I began wearing makeup around the age of 12. (only a silly foundation probably a slight shade of tangerine) But I really only began loving makeup when I was 14. I'm 15 now, very almost 16 so it hasn't been that long - but I think since starting this blog I've begun to properly love makeup!

-----------

2. How do you feel without makeup?

I wear makeup every school day. And Saturdays, but rarely on Sunday because skin needs a break! There was a time when I would worry far too much if I'd been in a rush in the morning and not had enough time to put my makeup on so I'd come to school bare faced. Nowadays, I still feel like I need the comfort blanket but I don't worry just as much.

-----------

3. What do you like about makeup?

I feel like I can express myself with makeup. For instance, cat eye flicks are for when I'm feeling cute and flirty and bright coloured lipsticks are for when I'm feeling bold etc. I think it lets other people know a little more about me. Lots of girls like makeup because it hides imperfections, but I like makeup to accentuate what's already there. I'm naturally very pale and I've learned to embrace my paleness - I love it! I always love experimenting with new tricks and products.

---------

4. Three 'holy grail' items?

Firstly I'd have to say Benefit They're Real! Mascara, then Rimmel London Clear Complexion Clarifying Face Powder. I'm yet to find a third to be honest with you!

And to avoid this being a pictureless post, I just wanted to add a photo of this Marilyn Monroe quote.

-"You're the beautiful one, it's society that's ugly."

Hey lovelies!

It's hard to believe we're almost finished October - what a quick month this has been! - for me anyway. But we all know what that means . . . one month closer to Christmas!
This month I've picked up plenty of lovely things so I thought I'd group them all together and show you.

NYC Nail Polish - Clear
£1.79

I was out shopping in Superdrug with my sister about 2 weeks ago, when she decided to hand me this and told me to buy it for us. She's 18, she shouldn't be telling her 15 year old sister to buy her things! But anyway, it wasn't expensive and we needed a clear polish so I didn't argue. I say 'we needed' because we share nail polishes - sisterly love haha! ;)

Miss Sporty Metal Flip nail polish
£1.99

I picked this up yesterday - I wanted to get a really unusual colour and this fits the bill. It's so unique, and hard to describe, I'd say it's black with tons of purple shimmer thrown in and a hint of that 'rainbow spilled petrol' colour? If you get what I mean. Nevertheless I love it - amazing for Halloween!

Models Own trio of nail polishes £6

I also got these little miracles yesterday! The day before, I actually read on a couple of blogs that TK Maxx had OPI and lots of other amazing things instore. So I decided to walk into my local TK Maxx and I was stunned. Their beauty shelves amaze me. They had so many fantastic things . . .Orly polishes, Calvin Klein makeup, OPI polish sets, a couple of packets of Models Own trios! Just the other day I posted on here a Models Own wishlist! I never owned any of their polishes - I've also never owned any OPI polishes but when I went in the only OPI thing was a Serena Williams set of a khaki green and white shatter which didn't appeal to me. But this did. It's a massive bargain - it retails at £15, TK Maxx were asking for £7.99 but then it was in the sale for £6!

Left to right:
Champagne - Pink Lady - Peacock Green

Champagne is fast becoming my new favourite polish.
I'm telling you, if you have a TK Maxx near you, don't walk pass it!

Revlon lipgloss - Coral Reef
£1

This is a Poundland bargain I got a couple of weeks ago. It's a lovely coral colour, super pigmented and glossy and such a bargain. I looked it up on the internet and I think it usually costs £6.99? What more could you ask for?

MUA Professional Eye Primer
£2.50

If you read my blog often then you'll know I'm a massive fan of MUA. Their eye primer has been recommended to me by a few bloggers here so I went and got it - haven't used it yet but no doubt I'll let you know how I get on with it.

MUA Extreme Felt Eyeliner
£2

I picked this up yesterday after wanting it for quite a while now - I swatched it on my hand once and I'm telling you, it doesn't budge! The swatch stayed on til the next day so I'm excited to see how well this works on my lids.

MUA Every Lash mascara
£3

This is now my everyday mascara. I was previously using Benefit They're Real, which I used until it could be used no more because I loved it so much, so I needed something really good to succeed it. Every Lash does exactly what it says on the tin (tube) - it coats every lash which is brilliant obviously. It does smell like apples! This might be off putting for some, but it really doesn't bother me. I can smell it when applying but the scent doesn't linger. I do love it, but I wouldn't say it's as good as my holy grail Benefit mascara. It's an excellent successor though, at £3 it's a much more purse friendly mascara!

River Island 3 heart shaped rings
£1

I almost walked past River Island yesterday until I spied the 50% off signs in their windows. I rarely buy anything from River Island unless it's in the sale (far too expensive for me) so I walked in hoping to find something bargainous. And did I? Yes! I had a good poke around the jewellery section and picked out these rings. They didn't have a price on them so I asked a girl who worked there and said they were £1 so I didn't hesitate to run to the checkout! They're so tiny and cute - heart shaped in gold, silver and rose gold colours. For school, the rules say we can only wear one small ring so I've been on the hunt for a pretty small ring - and when layered these do the job very nicely!

So many ways you can wear them!

Handbag (from charity shop)
£3.99

You know me, I love a good thrifty bargain. This is a little 'sit on the elbow' type bag in a dark olive green. I love it and it's in excellent condition, not much more I can say!

..............................................................................

So there we have it, my recent purchases in the month of October.
What have you bought recently?
Want any individual reviews? Just say in the comments!

P.S. You'll notice in the very first picture there is a bottle of Vaseline Cocoa Butter lotion, but the picture I took of it went missing. I love this so much - the scent is to die for and it works wonders on dry skin.

M :)

Hi pretties!

Just a quick post today - I've been thinking about Christmas, and I really want to get some things that I wouldn't be able to get any other time of the year. So since I always read reviews about Models Own polishes on the blogsphere, I wanted to make a wishlist of some polishes I would like. I don't own any so I'd love to add some of these beauties to my collection!

Northern Lights - Wonderland
Northern Lights - Wonderland

Indian Ocean - Beetlejuice
Indian Ocean

Pink Fizz - Glitter
Pink Fizz - Glitter

Mystic Mauve - Champagne
Mystic Mauve - Champagne

Scarlett Sparkle Nail Polish
Scarlett Sparkle

As you can see, I've picked some more unique colours, the types you can't easily find in drugstores.

All of the polishes are £5 each, but at the minute on the Models Own website there is an offer that when you buy 5 polishes you get £7 off! Go ahead and snap up that deal if you love MO polishes.

I'd really love to know if any of you have these colours - or recommend any particular shades - let me know in the comments!

M :)
Hey lovelies!

I went thrifting on Saturday!
It feels like I haven't thrifted in an age - nothing has appealed to me for weeks but last weekend, there were so many nice things - I guess that's just the way thrifting goes.
I saw so many things I would have love to have bought but I didn't have the money as I really wanted to get some MUA things as well. (my little MUA haul here!)

At the minute, I'm up to my eyeballs with revision for school tests and assessments, and in a couple of weeks our school is getting an inspection so teachers are pushing us to our limits, making sure everything is right. It's only Tuesday but I feel like this week is going to drag on foreeeever. I've had an english assessment which is a percentage of my GCSE! It's creative writing so I don't mind too much. I just can't seem to get a spare second to myself, I'm surprised I have time to write and post this! Anyway, what's happening in your week?

Well I suppose I'll crack on and show you what I got . . .

Denim Jacket
I paid: £2.50
Originally from: River Island
I've been on the hunt for an oversized denim jacket for so long. This is actually UK size 14, and I'm usually a UK size 6 or 8 so it is very big on me! I love it though, so soft and just the right colour!
If you think about it, this would probably cost around £30 - £40 in River Island so I got a huge bargain.

I adore rolled up sleeves!

Fancy River Island label.

.......................................................................................

Wooly Jumper
I paid: £3.80
Originally from: Dunnes Stores
This is another thing I've been wanting for so long - a cream coloured jumper! We had foreign exchange students in our school last week, and a girl from Germany was wearing a cream jumper under a hoody with jeans and brown boots, and I thought that was such a lovely outfit. It was so simple and casual but absolutely  gorgeous. Coming into the colder months, this jumper will be essential. It's also really soft and I can't wait to wear it!

It has this cute button detail on one shoulder - what not to love?

..............................................................

Well that's it for my short but sweet thrifty haul, I hope you like what I got!
Have you been thrifting your Autumn/Winter wardrobe yet?

I also want to thank you all, I am at 33 followers at the minute! Thank you so much, it means so much to me. That's more than half way to 50, I can't thank you enough, you are all lovely and fantastic.

M :)

...............................................................................

MUA 'Undressed' Palette £3
After much deliberation and changing my mind about which palette to get, I finally decided on the Undressed palette. It's very popular, especially among budget bloggers, probably because it's known to be a dupe for Urban Decay Naked palette!

I used to never use eyeshadow. When I was younger and only starting out with makeup, I bought myself a big palette with loads of colours, thinking that would be me sorted. It was used to a bit, and still to this day that palette is still in my makeup drawer, but I gave up with it. Since then, I've bought a couple of individual shadows but again, they've been put away in the 'I might use this one day' bag.
It's not that I wasn't able to do eyeshadow, it was just extra effort and I was always apprehensive that it would look silly.

Until the other day. I took out that big palette and had a play around with it! I used to shy away from brown eyeshadows, sticking to blacks and blues. But since playing with that palette, I now love brown shadows! They open my eyes up way more and look loads more natural than darks.

ANYWHOO, that's why I bought the Undressed palette!
I'm super excited to try this out.

I haven't used it yet, but the brush looks fantastic! Not like a typical, flimsy, spongey brush that you usually get in cheap eyeshadows at all.

................................................................................

MUA Intense Colour Eyeliner Pen in 'Snow White'
I like a white eyeliner for the inner corner of my eyes so I thought since I love MUA, I'd give this a go! It comes with a sharpener which is so great for me, because I've never got round to buying an eyeliner sharpener! I know, shame on me. But anyway, it's an added bonus which is fab for anyone - can't wait to give this a go.

.................................................................................

MUA Lipstick in Shade 3
This will be my 4th MUA lipstick, I keep buying them because I haven't been disappointed with one yet! I went for Shade 3 because when I swatched it in Superdrug, it was a really bright pink. I'm really hoping to give bright lips a try.

...............................................................................

MUA Lipgloss in Shade 3
In Superdrug at the MUA stand, there was an offer that if you bought at least one thing from MUA, you got a free lipgloss! Either a squeezy tube or a wand one. I went for a wand, and this shade is a dark but bright pink. Can't wait to try this out either! I think it's the nearly the same colour as the lipstick I bought so that's good!

...............................................................................

As I've said before, I'm really trying to build up my collection of MUA so expect more MUA hauls!
If you want full reviews on any of these, tell me in the comments below!

When I was at the checkout in Superdrug, I spied this little magazine and noticed it was free so I picked it up! It gives you an insight on the products they have, ways to wear the makeup, style and all sorts. What I noticed was that there's a whole page dedicated to the new things MUA has brought out! I'm hoping that these will be instore soon because they look amazing.
